Iron Man

new-iron-man-movie-poster_278×417.jpgIron Man was probably one of the best action movies of its kind that I have seen. Marvel movies are usually very tasteless and appeal to only a narrow audience, but this film is an exception. The film is about a millionaire by the name of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) , who also happens to be a technological genius. He made his fortune with his father’s weapon company and after being kidnapped in the middle east and escaping with the help of an awesome metal suit, he decides that he is not happy with a company that builds weapons that kill people. He sets out to right the wrongs by building a new and improved metal suit and becoming Iron Man.

The special effects were intense and very well done. The scenes of comic relief were also enjoyable and the dynamics between the characters were interesting. It was also nice that the film was made relevant (as much as a superhero movie can be) to current events. One can not help but wonder what war effort Stark’s company was helping along when the concept was a comic and not yet a movie (or cartoon show). Other frivolous details are also questioned in my mind. Does “Pepper” Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) clean the enormous mansion along with her other duties as Stark’s assistant? Like I previously mentioned, these details are sort of meaningless.

The movie was enjoyable, although the villain was throughly predictable, but what else were the filmmakers going to do? Some one has to the bad guy, right? Many will be glad to know that there will most likely be a sequel to this outstanding film, as the short clip after the credits suggests. Until then, Iron Man, shall have to do.
